hello. yellow.

Alberto Contador, at age 24, takes the Tour de France!

Angouleme – Stage 19

Levi Leipheimer, Cadel Evans and the great youngster Alberto Contador have encompassed the Tour de France and tomorrow in Paris will stand together on the Podium.

Leipheimer has said that he will not attack Evans tomorrow as they head into the French Capital, not even with only 31 seconds covering the top three riders in this race.

It was a remarkable time trial – the fourth fastest in Tour history at 53.081kph – and Leipheimer finally got to win a stage of this race which he started riding in 2002.

Contador was inspired by his yellow jersey and conceded only 1 min 27 sec of his lead to Evans. This has left him with 23 seconds to spare on the final day tomorrow and it should be enough.

Greg LeMond won the Tour in 1989 by eight seconds and Stephen Roche won his Tour in 1987 by beating Pedro Delgado by 38sec. Now there is a spread across the top three of just 31 seconds which will make up the podium in Paris.
